BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Doctor Ricardo J. Bogaert-Álvarez is a Dominican-American chemical engineer and poet. He was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic and grew up in a hacienda. After he obtained his B.S. at the PCUMM in Santiago and then obtained his chemical engineering masters and PhD at the University of Delaware. He has lived in the United States since 1981 and resides in Denver with his beloved wife Laura. He has published poems in the “El Sol” newspaper, “The New Press,” the Horizons” anthology and the “American Institute of Chemical Engineers” supplement among other publications.
He has published four poetry books: 1) “The Mask Behind My Face” (which is available in Amazon Kindle), 2) “The Dance of the Phoenix,” 3) “The Samurai Poet” and 4) “Romance and Haiku Elixir.” In the latter three books, each poem is in Spanish and English. He presented “The Dance of the Phoenix” in five cities of Colorado and in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2019. This was followed by a tour in Dominican Republic where he presented this book in four cities in 2020. He is the vice president of the Columbine Poets, Inc, which is a poetry club at the state level in Colorado. In poetry contests of this club, he has won a third prize (2019) and an honorable mention (2015) in the formal poetry category and an honorable mention (2019) and second prize (2020) in the category of prose poem.

Doctor Ricardo J. Bogaert-Álvarez es un ingeniero químico jubilado y poeta dominico-americano. Él nació en Santiago, República Dominicana. Él creció en una hacienda en Mao. Después de obtener su licenciatura de ingeniería química en la PUCMM, él obtuvo su maestría y doctorado en la Universidad de Delaware. Él vive en Estados Unidos desde 1981 y actualmente reside en Denver con su amada esposa Laura. Él ha publicado poemas en el periódico “El Sol”, en la revista “The New Press,” la antología “The Horizons,” y el suplemento de la revista “Chemical Engineering Progress” entre otras publicaciones.
Él ha publicados cuatro libros de poesía: 1) “The Mask Behind My Face”, 2) “La Danza del Fénix”, 3) “El Poeta Samurai” y 4) “Elixir de Romance y Haiku. En los tres últimos libros cada poema está en español e inglés. Él presentó “La Danza del Fénix” en cinco ciudades de Colorado y una de New Mexico en Estados Unidos en el 2019. Luego presentó dicho libro en cuatro ciudades dominicanas en 2020. Él es vicepresidente del Columbine Poets, Inc, un club poético a nivel estatal en Colorado. En competencias de dicho club en Colorado, ha ganado un tercer premio (2019) y una mención honorable en la categoría de poesía formal y un segundo premio en la categoría de prosa poética (2020).
